Questions about the new sizes

Are the new sizes allowed for Every Door Direct Mail?

Yes. Both are printed flat and folded before mailing, and the folded piece is what USPS measures. The 12 × 18 is a bi-fold that folds in half to 9 × 12, and the 11 × 25.5 is a tri-fold that folds to 8.5 × 11. Each is an EDDM flat, longer than 10.5 inches or taller than 6.125 inches and within the 15 × 12 inch maximum.

Does a bigger piece cost more postage?

No. EDDM Retail postage is one rate per piece for any qualifying flat up to 3.3 ounces, so a folded 12 × 18 mails at the same rate as a 6.25 × 9 postcard. Only the printing costs more.

Can I order them Full Service or Print Only?

Both. Full Service: you pick routes on the map, and we print, fold, bundle by carrier route, file the USPS paperwork and deliver the mailing to the Post Office. Print Only: we print, fold and ship the pieces to you, and you take them to your Post Office.

What paper are they printed on?

Both print on 100 lb gloss cover with an aqueous coating, a stiff sheet that feels substantial in the hand and holds up in the mail.

How do I set up the artwork?

Design at the full flat size plus 0.125 inch bleed on every edge, and keep text 0.125 inch inside the trim and away from the folds. Leave the EDDM indicia and address block on the panel that faces out after folding. A person on our team checks every file and you approve a proof before anything prints.
