What goes into an EDDM price
Every EDDM campaign has the same three parts. The only question is who handles each one.
- Printing. Your postcards or flyers, printed to the USPS flat-size rules. This is the part that changes most with size and quantity.
- Mailing service. Sorting the pieces by carrier route (the path one mail carrier walks each day), bundling them with facing slips, filling in PS Form 3587 and taking them to the right Post Office.
- Postage. The USPS EDDM Retail rate is $0.26 a piece, per the USPS EDDM page. It is the same for a 6.5 x 9 postcard and a 9 x 12 flyer, as long as the piece weighs no more than 3.3 oz.
With Full Service, all three are in one price, and postage appears as its own line so you can see it. With Print Only, you pay us for printing (plus shipping to you), then pay USPS $0.26 a piece at the counter and do the bundling and paperwork yourself.
On top of either, 8.25% sales tax is added at checkout on everything except USPS postage, in every state. You see the tax before you pay.

EDDM cost per piece: 8.5 x 11 flyer
An 8.5 x 11 flyer gives you a full page for a menu or a service list. Postage is the same $0.26, so the difference from the postcard is all printing.

Put the two tables side by side and the pattern is clear: totals climb with quantity, but the price of each piece falls, most steeply between 1,000 and 2,500. By 10,000 the postcard and the flyer cost the same $0.50 a piece with Full Service.

The difference is about $705 before shipping. That buys the bundling by route, the facing slips, PS Form 3587, the drive to each destination Post Office and a person checking the job before it prints. At 1,000 pieces the gap is small, and shipping can close most of it. At 10,000 it is large enough that Print Only is worth a serious look if you have the people to bundle.
What moves the price up or down
- Size. Across the sizes we sell, Full Service runs from $0.46 a piece (4.25 x 11 flyer at 10,000) to $1.26 a piece (11 x 17 flyer at 1,000) at the time of writing. Postage does not change with size, so a bigger piece only costs more to print. Every size, drawn to scale with its price, is on our EDDM sizes page.
- Quantity. The biggest lever. A 6.5 x 9 postcard goes from $0.75 a piece at 1,000 to $0.50 at 10,000.
- Production speed. You choose it when you order. Faster production costs more; the prices above use the standard speed.
- Design. If you don't have artwork, our design service is a flat $125. Our EDDM templates are free and already leave room for the postage box.
- Service. Full Service or Print Only, as shown above.
Rule of thumb: pick the size for the message, then pick the quantity for the budget. Two or three well-chosen carrier routes near you teach you more than a thin spread across a whole city.
When EDDM isn't worth the money
EDDM mails every address on a carrier route. That is what keeps it simple and keeps postage at $0.26, and it is also the limit. If your customer is a specific person rather than a place (new parents, owners of a certain car, existing patients), you pay to reach a lot of homes that will never buy. A list-based mailing costs more per piece but wastes less.
It is also a poor fit for a one-off test of 200 pieces with no clear offer. The fixed parts of a job (setup, bundling, the Post Office trip) spread thinly over tiny runs, which is why 1,000 pieces cost $0.75 each and 10,000 cost $0.50.

How much is EDDM postage per piece?
The USPS EDDM Retail rate is $0.26 a piece for flats up to 3.3 oz. With Full Service it is included in your price and shown as its own line. With Print Only you pay it to USPS at the Post Office.
Is there a minimum order for EDDM?
USPS requires at least 200 pieces per ZIP Code per day for EDDM Retail, and no more than 5,000 per ZIP per day (DMM 143). Your routes set the exact count.
Is sales tax charged on EDDM orders?
Yes: 8.25% sales tax is added at checkout on printing, the mailing service, shipping and design in every state, but not on USPS postage. You see the tax before you pay.
