Why 6 × 12 qualifies for EDDM
Every Door Direct Mail only accepts flats. USPS counts a piece as a flat when it is longer than 10.5 inches, taller than 6.125 inches or thicker than 0.25 inch, and no bigger than 15 × 12 inches. Its 12-inch length clears the 10.5-inch rule, even though the 6-inch height does not, so length is the qualifying dimension.

6 × 12 EDDM postcard FAQs
Does a 6 × 12 postcard qualify for EDDM?
Yes. USPS counts a piece as a flat, the shape EDDM requires, when it is longer than 10.5 inches, taller than 6.125 inches or thicker than 0.25 inch. Its 12-inch length clears the 10.5-inch rule, even though the 6-inch height does not, so length is the qualifying dimension.
What size should my 6 × 12 file be?
Build the file at 6.25 × 12.25 inches: the 6 × 12 trim plus 0.125 inch of bleed on every edge. Keep text and logos inside the 5.75 × 11.75 inch safe area so nothing is lost when the sheet is cut.
What is the difference between print-only and full service?
Print only means we print your postcards and ship them to you, and you take them to the Post Office yourself. Full service means you pick the routes on our map, and we also bundle by route, handle the USPS paperwork and deliver the mailing to USPS, so you never visit the Post Office.
What exactly arrives at my door?
Your finished postcards, printed with the EDDM indicia so no stamps are needed, and banded in 50s or 100s if you chose bundling. You add the facing slips and the postage statement and take them to the Post Office that serves your routes.
What do I still have to do myself?
Three things: complete PS Form 3587, attach a facing slip to each bundle, and drop the mailing at the Post Office serving your selected routes. You pay USPS the postage at the current EDDM rate when you drop it off.
Are there volume limits I should know about?
EDDM Retail allows 200 to 5,000 pieces per ZIP code per day. Larger campaigns split across days or ZIP codes, or move to a permit mailing. Call us at (346) 306-EDDM and we will map it out.
Do I need a mailing list or addresses?
No. EDDM delivers to every address on the carrier routes you pick. Pieces are addressed to "Postal Customer", the wording USPS uses, so there is no list to buy and no addresses to print.
Is there a minimum quantity?
A Full Service mailing is at least one carrier route, mailed in full. For Print Only, USPS EDDM Retail asks for at least 200 pieces per ZIP code per day at the Post Office. Carrier routes vary from a few hundred addresses to over a thousand, and the route map shows the exact count before you commit.
Can I have the postcards bundled before they ship?
Yes. Bundling in 50s or 100s is a selectable service on print-only orders. If you do not choose it, the postcards ship unbundled and you sort them yourself before the drop.
Why choose print only over full service?
Mostly cost. You skip our mailing service and pay postage straight to USPS at drop-off. The trade-off is your time: the paperwork, facing slips and drop-off are simple but real work, especially across several ZIP codes.
What file format should I send?
A press-ready PDF is best, with 0.125 inch bleed on every edge and important content kept 1/8 inch (0.125 inch) inside the trim.
Will I receive a proof before printing?
Yes. Every order includes a press-ready file check, and you approve a proof before anything prints.
How do I track my order?
Tracking is emailed as soon as the order ships.
What is bleed, and why does it matter?
Bleed is artwork that extends past the trim edge. Without it, small cutting variations can leave thin white slivers on the finished piece.
